Summer Activities
California Parasail
When you go to the beach, you might go swimming or build a sandcastle, but have you ever considered parasailing? California Parasail offers the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to glide above the surf and sand of Long Beach and catch glimpses of some of the most unique views available. Guests are taken up roughly 800 feet into the air while parasailing.
The cost is $95 per person, and 40$ if a guest wishes to ride in the boat and observe family or friends as they float through the air. Each trip can accommodate from 1 to 3 people per flight. Events
20th Annual Freestyle Festival
Does enjoying delicious food and drinks, playing games, riding a ferris wheel and enjoying a fireworks display sound like a good time? Then you’ll want to attend this year’s Freestyle Festival. In addition to all these great activities, attendees will enjoy musical performances from Taylor Dayne,Sugar Hill Gang, and nearly a dozen other great performers. This year’s performance won’t be one to miss.
This festival takes place August 20th from 1pm to 11pm on the Queen Mary. Tickets cost anywhere from $80 to $250.
Long Beach Vegan Festival
I know what you’re thinking. “I’m not vegan. Why would I go to a vegan festival?” How about to be introduced to some delicious healthy food? How about to enjoy great live music and amazing food trucks. If you’ve wondered about veganism and if it might be for you, consider stopping by the Long Beach Vegan Festival and sampling some great vegan foods. You’ll find plenty of people around you who would be happy to share what they know about the vegan lifestyle.
The Long Beach Vegan Festival takes place Saturday, July 2nd from 11am to 7pm at 855 Elm Ave. in Long Beach, CA. Whether you’re vegan or not, it’s going to be a lot of fun!
Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival
A dragon boat is a canoe-like vessel fitted with ornately carved dragon heads and tails. At the Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival , teams compete in a race, paying homage to ancient Chinese traditions dating back thousands of years. If you’ve never experienced this festival, 2022 is the year you should start! In addition to boat racing, there will be food games, martial arts and dance demonstrations, and plenty more to keep you smiling.
The Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival will take place on July 30-31st from 9am to 6pm on the 30th and 9am to 3:30pm on the 31st. The venue is Marine Stadium located at 5255 E. Paoli Way, Long Beach, CA. Don’t miss this fun and historical event!
Shows and Performances
Valley Song at the International City Theater
Valley Song is a coming-of-age story about a girl in post-apartheid South Africa being performed at the International City Theater of Long Beach this summer from August 24 to September 11, 2022. Critics are raving about this thoughtful and lingering performance. Tickets cost between $37 to $55.
Summer is a great time of year, but it can get HOT. Take a break from the heat this summer and attend Valley Song, one of the great performances taking place at the International City Theater of Long Beach. If this isn’t your cup of tea, ICT has plenty of other plays that take place throughout the year, and even a few that play over the summer. Funny Bonz, The ‘humerus’ Solution
Do you like food? How about laughter? Then you’ll love this musical sketch comedy dinner theater show! They say that laughter is the best medicine, and we guarantee you’ll be feeling much better after a nice 3 course meal and hilarious performance a la Saturday Night Live.
You’ll have several opportunities to enjoy the show this summer. The P3 Theatre is hosting this show on June 16, July 21, August 11, and September 15, 2022. Matinee performances begin around noon and evening performances start at 6pm. Matinee costs are $72.50 per person and evening shows are $90 per person. Buy your tickets soon; they’re bound to sell out fast.
Musical Theater West Presents Grease
There aren’t many musicals as iconic as Grease. You’ll become immersed in the romance of two young highschool students in the year 1959 as they explore what it means to grow up. Spend the evening enjoying this rock n’ rolling good time.
This performance runs from July 8 – 24, 2022 at Musical Theatre West . The shows have a variety of start times, including as early as 1pm and as late as 8pm. Buy your tickets in advance; these showings are filling up fast!
